As you prepare to settle into the university city in which you’ll be spending the next three or four years in, it’s an ideal time to get to know your new home.
Discover the trendiest cafés, the most stylish vintage clothing shops and the best bars for enjoying live music – immersing yourself in your new town during the next few weeks is the perfect way to help you get to grips with your new surroundings and feel at home.
Of course one thing you also need to check out is your accommodation. At Collegiate we’re really proud of the standard of the homes that we offer, so most of our buildings include a show flat, where you can come and see what’s in store for you. You can also check out the communal facilities, to give you an idea of how you can spend your studying and leisure time once you move in.
Our friendly on-site management team will also be delighted to talk to you about the Collegiate lifestyle and about enjoying a superior standard of student living. You’re welcome to test the team’s local knowledge by asking whatever you want to know – they’re full of facts, including everything from the location of the nearest cash machine to how many minutes it takes to get to the supermarket.
If you haven’t already booked your accommodation then don’t worry, we still have a few rooms left in some of the UK’s best university towns. You need to act fast though, as they’re being snapped up at quite a pace now!
The UK has some fantastically unique and interesting towns. Did you know, for example, that Birmingham has 22 more miles of canals than Venice? Or that Cardiff is home to the world’s first record shop (Spillers, which opened in 1894)? Wherever you’ve chosen to study, devote some time to finding the best shops, teashops, live music venues and cultural attractions on offer.
As well as taking the time now to get to know your new town and your new accommodation, be sure to join some societies relevant to your interests and engage in other activities that appeal to you as part of Freshers’ Week. They’re a great way to make friends and to help you find your feet.
Be sure to check out the handy location guides on the Collegiate website, along with your residents’ handbook, which contains loads of useful info on your new town. You’ll be glad you did when the time comes to leave home for the start of term.
Finally, don’t miss your Collegiate welcome party! This is Collegiate’s way of getting the new academic year off to a fantastic start and helping you to meet and get to know your fellow residents.
