Enrich Your Summer in Scotland’s Capital

1st August 2014

Already living in our superior student accommodation in Edinburgh? Then you will know that Collegiate’s student accommodation offers great value, superb facilities and peace of mind; so why not stay on through the summer and continue to enjoy great student living as well as the largest arts festival in the world.

Every August, the Edinburgh International Festival transforms one of the world's most beautiful cities, presenting three exhilarating weeks of the finest creators and performers from the worlds of the arts - for everyone. Edinburgh's six major theatres and concert halls, a few smaller venues and often some unconventional ones too, come alive with the best music, theatre, opera and dance from around the globe.

The Festival programme is varied, runs from 8 – 31 August and includes a host of talks and workshops as well as some great performances. To find out more visit the Festival website at www.eif.co.uk.

And alongside the International Festival is another world famous event – The Festival Fringe. Every year thousands of performers take part in the Fringe on hundreds of stages all over Edinburgh, presenting shows for every taste. From big names in the world of entertainment to unknown artists looking to build their careers, the festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, comedy, dance, circus, cabaret, children's shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events. Visit www.edfringe.com to find out what’s on.

In addition to all the drama and music this year’s International Festival will present a major season of works from South Africa; Imaginate will tour two pieces of Australian children’s theatre; and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe will host a World Fringe Congress of international directors and organisers.

And you can be part of it if you want too rather than just a spectator. If you enjoy singing the Festival Chorus offers opportunities for enthusiastic amateur singers to work with the world's top conductors and orchestras in Festival concerts. Or you could work alongside the Festival core team of staff in the run up to and during the Festival itself. There are job opportunities mainly in the technical department, artist liaison, press office and ticketing services.
