We could of course, not fail mention the Christmas Markets in our guide to the best Christmas events in London. They have become part and parcel of the festive experience in pretty much every city in Europe and London offers some of the very best.
London’s Christmas markets are a lot more than your standard German huts and mulled wine though, with the city characteristically takings things that step further.
Hyde Park’s winter wonderland, wintertime at the Southbank centre and Winterville at Clapham Common all offering markets that will leave you in awe.
The River Thames, Big Wheel rides and high quality handmade gifts are all use with aplomb to give you that Christmas experience you could only experience in our great capital.
Hogwarts In The Snow
As the huge here Harry Potter fans we are here at Collegiate, we simply had to recommend Hogwarts In The Snow as one of the best Christmas events London has to offer.
Although this attractions is around 20 minutes outside of London near Watford, the journey is negligible given the treats that await any fans of the ever-popular franchise.
One will find the Yule Ball in the Great Hall, which has been decked out for Christmas in a truly magical manner and the special effects that have been added for the Christmas period will leave you speechless.

A Trip To The Theatre
Although London’s theatre district or “Theatreland” as it is affectionately known, is busy all year around, Christmas really gives it that Christmas edge and it is well worth a visit with many special performance taking place during the festive period.
The west end is beautifully decked out at Christmas time and the restaurants in this area of the city are regarded to be pretty much second to none, so simply perfect if you are exploring with family or even planning a trip to the theatre with a loved one.
You can enjoy classics such as Disney’s Aladdin or Annie or go for some of the specially laid on Christmas plays such as 42nd Street, Christmas Carol or The Christmasaurus; the choice is yours!

Enchanted Eltham Palace
Finally, if you are lucky enough to be in London during the week of 15th – 23rd December, then we suggest you take the journey to Eltham Palace & Gardens. Here you will find a brand-new winter lights trail which light up the stunning grounds and create a Christmas atmosphere you just won’t find anywhere else in London.
You will find all the classics such as freshly made mince pies and mulled wine but the views at this London Christmas attraction really set it apart from the rest and without the hustle and bustle one will find at some of the other iconic London Locations.
Tickets are also very reasonable ranging from £10 per person to £31 for a family ticket, so be sure to go online and check their site out or just head to Greenwich during December to enjoy one of the truly unique things to do on London at Christmas.
