Introduction

The Neighbourhood Cardiff is one of our flagship student properties, located in the heart of what is becoming one of the UK’s most energetic and welcoming student communities. Separated simply by the city’s trendy Tredegarville, The Neighbourhood and Cardiff University couldn’t really be much closer making it a popular choice for hundreds of students every academic year.

The Best Food Places In Cardiff

One of the awesome things about The Neighbourhood is its location, right in the epicentre of Cardiff’s student community. Integral to this is the food scene, which has been growing in stature over the years and this lends itself perfectly to the city’s bohemian clientele. Below you can find some of our favourite eateries in the city, all just a short walk from The Neighbourhood.

Shaam Nights – For a taste of the middle east, you can take a five-minute walk down City Road and enjoy this ambient and ornately decorated restaurant. From lamb shanks and chicken biryanis to shawarma wraps, this restaurant is perfect for students looking for a bit of spice.

Bar 44 – This tapas bar is popular amongst the student population due to the fact that it serves food well into the night. Find it on Westgate Street, just twenty minutes from our student accommodation in Cardiff; we recommend the Pork Belly!

Bully’s Restaurant – Although this restaurant may not sound typically French, it serves classic cuisine that wouldn’t be out of place down the most quintessential Parisienne walkways. You do have to cross the River Taft to get to this one from The Neighbourhood, but it’s definitely worth it if you want to push the boat out with your friends on payday or when your student loan comes in.

The Best Pubs In Cardiff

Cardiff has become a lot more cosmopolitan in recent years, resulting in the excellent restaurants and the general social scene we have already alluded to. But despite this, it hasn’t lost its heritage as a historic and quintessentially British city, key to this is its range of traditional pubs and bars.

You will no doubt get to experience these as part of the Cardiff student community, through social club nights out but we have highlighted three of our favourites to get you started:

  • Pen & Wig – a newly refurbed student pub with a diverse menu and live music
  • The Woodville – student-friendly prices with a great atmosphere
  • Revolution Cardiff – Revolution bars are always a hit with the student community and Cardiff’s is certainly no different. Student deals and a great vibe every night of the week!
