The Architect, Castle Street

Tucked away a mere 2-minute walk away from your Cambridge University accommodation, you’ll find The Architect – Cambridge’s first dedicated Fish and Chip and Pie and Mash bar. These classic British favourites are on offer across a ‘build your own’ style menu so you get to pick exactly what you want. You’ve also got the option to try a few traditional dishes with a little twist such as the Cajun spiced batter or a side of buttered samphire. To top it off, choose from a wide selection of real ales, craft beers and over 20 gins.

The Codfather, Barnwell Road

For some of the best fish and chips in Cambridge delivered right to your door, it’s got to be The Codfather (bonus points for a good fish-based pun, of course!) With over 25 years’ experience in the industry, the family-run Anchor Fish Bar has a bit of experience when it comes to delivering some of the best fish and chips in Cambridge. This is quite the classic British chip shop that offers up a range of fish, kebabs, burgers, fried chicken, pies and veggie options to go along with your chips.

When you’re in the mood to explore the best parks and green spaces in Cambridge – weather permitting! – it’s a good idea to include Ditton Meadows on your list. The Fort St George, Midsummer Common

The Anchor Pub, Silver Street

We’ve given you the five reasons to love Cambridge’s rich cultural history and of course punting down the River Cam is one of them. However, you don’t have to hop on a boat to enjoy the river – you can just visit the iconic Anchor pub. This waterside venue has a pub, dining room and riverside terrace for you to enjoy. This little shop has been offering up some of the best fish and chips in Cambridge for years so it’s well worth a visit while you’re studying in the city. It’s a very classic offering but you’ll find ever-changing daily specials to try as well as a choice of jacket potatoes if you don’t fancy the usual chips!

The Clarendon Arms, Clarendon Street

While you’re studying in the city, you must head to the Clarendon Arms – a Cambridge institution that’s famed for its particularly good pub grub fish and chips. They’ve actually previously been ranked as offering the best fish and chips in Cambridge on TripAdvisor so you know you’re in for a treat. You can be sure of crunchy hand cut chips as well as freshly battered or lightly panko breadcrumbed cod with minted mushy peas and chunky tartar sauce.

Don’t be fooled by the name! You’ll find some of the best fish and chips in Cambridge at Fish’n’Chick’n.  Whether you fancy a classic cod, haddock or plaice or prefer trying something different like some scampi, fish cakes or salt and pepper squid – this place has got you covered. It’s in nearby village Cherry Hinton, but luckily they deliver freshly made food in a flash and you can order online. You’ll be enjoying some of the best fish and chips in Cambridge from the luxury of your own studio in no time.
