Whether you’re looking for a place to dance the night away or have a quiet pint with your mates at one of Gloucester’s student bars, there’s something for everyone.
When you’re fresh in a new city, it can be tricky finding the best places for a great student night out. To make things go smoothly, we’ve put together a handy guide to some of the best Gloucester uni nightlife spots— all of which are within a ten minute walk away from your student accommodation in Gloucester.
Staying at Collegiate’s Quay House, you’ll be close by to all the main attractions Gloucester has to offer. Sleep off the night before in our cosy accommodation which comes with a big double bed, and of course, your very own en-suite. If you do wake up with a sore head, eat that hangover away at one of the best bottomless brunch spots in Gloucester. Living so close to the action means you’ll rarely have to splash out on Taxis. Just wander on downtown and have yourself some fun!
Monday: The Doctors
If you’re looking for a chill spot to kick off the week look no further than The Doctors. Boasting 18 individual, large TV screens, it’s the best place in town to view all the latest and greatest in the world of sport. It’s also a great place to drink in the warmer months all thanks to their impressive, beer garden. The Doctors specialise in gins and cocktails, so if you’re feeling fancy there’s never been a better time to indulge!

Tuesday: Butlers
It’s Tuesday night and you want to have some fun. What are you going to do? Head on down to Butlers of course! This impressive venue looks fantastic with enough LED lighting to sink a small battleship. Even the dance floor lights up, putting you in the perfect mood to cut some serious shapes. If you’ve found yourself the designated driver for the night, tell the bar staff and enjoy your choice of free soft drink. This iconic venue has won the Best Bar None award three years running, so you know you’re in safe hands. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, Butlers offers some fantastic VIP packages where you can book not just your own booth, but your very own bar!

Wednesday: ATIK
ATIK is Gloucester’s one and only super club and it’s an absolutely technicoloured wonderland of a place to party. Get yourself down there every Wednesday night to experience SWITCH, Gloucesters biggest midweek night out, and one of the best student nights Gloucester has to offer. During SWITCH, drinks start from just £1.50 so fill your boots while you can. ATIK frequently hosts special guests with their most recent appearance coming from S Club Live PA. You’ll also get to hear music from the nation’s top DJs across three rooms of pure chaos! If you feel like splashing out, booking a private booth is an option. Private booth, or not, just make sure to book your tickets in advance. They sell out fast!

Thursday: Café Rene
Café Rene is part pub, part restaurant and part live music venue — making it quite the versatile spot. While Thursday might not be the time to dance the night away at Café Rene, you’ll be able to enjoy chill vibes, unique decor and some high quality food and drinks. There’s a spirits menu longer than your arm, so you better start working your way through the menu soon. It’s worth pointing out that every Wednesday and Friday night Café Rene hosts live music. Entry is free before 11PM. After that, entry is £3.00 on the door.

Friday: Jax Bar & Nightclub
Jax Bar and Nightclub is a fairly recent addition to the city, opening its doors to the public in 2017 and is practically around the corner from our Gloucester University accommodation. From day one, Jax has been wowing its guests with epic live DJ’s and two spacious dance floors blasting the best of House, Garage, Techno and Hip Hop. They’re open until 3am, so it’s the perfect nightclub to be at if you’re planning on pulling an all-nighter. Dress code is smart casual, so whatever you do, don’t show up in your pyjamas. Saturday: Fever
Shuffle on down to Shuffle Saturday at Fever. Here you can listen to some of the best Hip Hop, Garage and House music in town as well as a healthy dose of R&B. At £10 for four drinks, you can’t go wrong. There’s also all your favourite shots from vodka and rum to Jägerbombs. Dance till you drop across two unique rooms, each playing their own music. The Fever room features a dynamic colour-changing dance floor, perfect for a Saturday night boogie. After you’ve worked up a sweat, chill out in the sophisticated Boutique room, full of comfy sofas and elegant, amber lighting.

Upper Quay House by Universe.City is located just a 20 minute walk from The University of Gloucester’s Oxstalls campus. The magnificent Gloucester Cathedral is right on your doorstep. You can also enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants that sit on the waterfront of the historic docklands.
