First up on the list, and just a short walk away from Roman House, is Chester Green Fish Bar. This fish bar receives rave reviews, with many being particularly complimentary of their FIsh. The menu is full of everything you would and expect to see at a chippy (and love to eat) including some meal deals that can save you a few pounds!

A couple of minutes further down the road is Victoria Fish Bar. A favourite with students, their kebab meat is often highlighted in reviews. What’s more, you can order and pay online before collecting to avoid queues, or even get your meal delivered – perfect for those lazy days!

With two of the first three reviews complimenting portion size, we get the impression that Markeaton Fish Bar is a good one to visit when your stomach is empty! Their Chicken Tandoori wrap comes highly recommended, but late eaters should know this palace shuts daily at 8pm.

The first chippy on our list doesn’t include the term fish bar in its name, but we think it’s still fairly obvious what this place sells! Offering Halal food, and open 7 days a week, UK Fish Box has a wide variety of options on its menu and also some “Fish box” meals that can feed a houseful of empty stomachs!

Not strictly a chippy, but when we saw some of the images of the food at The Exeter Arms we HAD TO include it on this list. A traditional British pub with a modern menu, including fish and chips. As the 2022 Derby Food & Drinks – Pub of the Year award winner, we think this is one that belongs on any list.
