Alexander’s has been a staple of the University of Chester nightlife scene since 1991 and live music Mondays always promises a lively atmosphere. Bringing you the best local acts performing every week, as well as free entry and decent beer at great prices makes Alexander’s the place to be on a Monday. It was also a spot that hosted Ed Sheeran before he got mega famous so you never know which band you might catch before they hit the big time!

Tuesday: Wetherspoons

Wetherspoons is ingrained in British student culture, and in Chester you get the pick of two historic and cute Wetherspoons: The Square bottle and the Bull and Stirrup. While they don’t do a student night in Chester, it’s a firm favourite among University of Chester nightlife as Whethers always offers cheap as chips food and drink and it doesn’t matter if it’s to kick off your evening or just pop in for a casual, low key drink with friends, it’s a great spot for a Tuesday night.

Wednesday: The Botanist

A mainstay of University of Chester nightlife is The Botanist, in fact it’s so good we had to include it here, but it also gets honourable mention in our round up of the best bottomless brunch in Chester. With deliciuous cocktails and the pub chain’s famous hanging kebabs, the Botanist makes a great place to get the night in motion and to grab some food so you can pace yourself. But on Wednesdays, it’s particularly ideal for a good student night in Chester as it transforms into Botanist musical bingo with cheap entry and a bunch of prizes up for grabs.

Thursday: The Cross Keys

An underrated element of University of Chester nightlife is a good pub quiz. That’s why we think you should head to the city’s small, charming Victorian tavern, The Cross Keys. This pub has a real quality feel within with sparkling stained glass windows, leather seats, oak floors and great ambience. If you’re an international student looking to sample a more traditional British pub experience, this has got to be your go-to. On Thursdays, there’s a pub quiz so is a great spot to hit up with your friends for a relaxed, midweek night out – be sure to get brushing up on some interesting facts about Chester as well!

Friday: The Church

High on our list of the best bits of University of Chester nightlife would have to be The Church. It’s a stunning venue with a renovated interior inside an old Church and with a resident DJ on until 1am, it’s a bustling place to be on a Friday night. You can party until the early hours on the gorgeous terrace and only be a short walk away from our University of Chester accommodation.

Saturday: Rosie’s

‘Rosie’s ‘til closies’ is a phrase you’ll become familiar with in the University of Chester nightlife scene. Rosie’s nightclub has a great vibe and is sure to be where everyone piles into in the late hours when everywhere else is closed. And at roughly a 10-minute walk from our student accommodation in Chester, you can be assured home isn’t too far away and you can collapse into your safe, big and comfy bed and get rested up ready to hit the books again on Monday.
