The student accommodation revolution

8th November 2016

Student accommodation is mid-way through a significant revolution. For too long, students believed that run-down, chilly homes with peeling wallpaper and threadbare carpets were all they could reasonably expect in terms of their university accommodation. Thankfully, a new wave of investment into the UK student accommodation sector has turned all that on its head.

Today’s leading student pads are more akin to boutique hotels than to the dingy dens that were deemed acceptable not so long ago. Beautifully polished laminate floors and spacious, light-filled accommodation, such as Plummer House student accommodation in Newcastle, with plenty of room to study and to relax, give modern students a home they can be proud of. Living there means you have the space and facilities to feel truly at home, with the convenience of en-suite bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens.

Contemporary student apartments have been designed to give you the standard of living that you can expect once you enter the world of employment – something almost unimaginable just a decade ago. Not only that, but at student residences like Plummer House, a whole host of luxury social spaces give you plenty of options when it comes to being entertained. Relax in the club lounge and bar in a delightfully decadent environment after a long day’s learning, or hang out in the games room - perfect for those with a competitive streak. The on-site cinema makes for a great evening in – or even a marathon weekend or two over the winter months, with plenty of popcorn and must-see classic films.

Modern facilities also mean that students can benefit from hotel-inspired features, like a 24 hour concierge, free 200mb/s broadband and a private gym packed with the latest fitness machines.

Despite all this opulence, the student accommodation revolution hasn’t forgotten that studying is the primary purpose of attending university. This is why all our student accommodation sites provide residents with a desk area in their own apartments, and sites such as 800 Bristol Road in Birmingham also have study rooms dotted around the building - giving youplenty of choice when it comes to where you want to hit the books.

Just a few years has made an incredible difference to the UK’s student accommodation sector and the revolution isn't over yet. We are striving to introduce exciting new innovations with each and every scheme, so watch this space for details of what’s to come!
