The graceful piazzas of Harbour-side, with their public sculptures and statues celebrating city legends, are paired with dramatic buildings, such as the At-Bristol Planetarium.
Bristol has an excellent range of shops, from international fashion houses to local, independent boutiques (named by the Guardian as one of the ten best markets in the UK). The city is also crammed full of eateries, from humble cafés to fine dining establishments, backed by a host of bars, pubs and clubs.
Those with a taste for the theatre will enjoy the Bristol Hippodrome, which regularly presents touring productions of West End hits. For alternative music and some fantastic street art, head to the Stoke Croft area of the city, which even has its own Banksy – the true sign of a city that has made it onto the arts scene!
